Holiday Showcase 2019 – What Parents Need to Know
It’s that time of year again! We’re gearing up for our 2019 Holiday Showcase and we could not be more excited! Please read this note thoroughly – it is full of important information!
WHEN IS THE PERFORMANCE?
This year’s shows are Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 1:00 and 3:00 PM! Doors to the auditorium will open thirty minutes prior to each show. Tickets will be available online starting November 15, and any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

WHO CAN PERFORM?
We will have two performances, at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Each show will be about 60-75 minutes long.
Dancers in Dance & Discover 1, 2, and 3; Level 1, 2, Beginning, and Home School Ballet (Ages 6-10) will perform in one show. Showtimes are organized by class. You can find those assignments here. Dancers in Level 3+ and up will perform in both shows.
This performance is 100% optional, but we encourage all of our families to participate! Dance is a performing art – and students learn and grow so much from every performance experience. Our Holiday Showcase is an informal showcase and great practice for the full recital experience in June! Dancers gain performance skills, and new dancers learn what it’s like to go backstage, line up, and perform for an audience.
Each level will perform one style of dance (i.e. ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, etc.). We choose one style per level to keep the experience affordable and the show lengths reasonable. Listed below are the classes chosen for this years shows.

To register, follow the button for your dancer’s classes and complete the form (one form per dancer per class – if a dancer is in two classes, please fill out one form for each). Only dancers enrolled in the technique chosen for each level may participate. If your dancer is not enrolled in the technique class chosen, but would like to perform, we would love to have them add the class! The best growth for dancers comes when they take ballet, tap, and jazz at their level. It isn’t too late to add the class and get to perform in the Holiday Show!
WHEN WILL MY DANCER LEARN THE CHOREOGRAPHY?
Choreography will be taught during regular class time starting November 4 through the week leading up to the show! Practice videos are already up on the parent portal but can also be accessed via this link.
WHAT WILL MY DANCER WEAR?
Specific information regarding costumes for each level is listed within each registration form. All costumes are dance-wear based. We work hard to keep the cost for participating in the show as low as possible (most of the prices for costumes are significantly below retail price for the items included!) Leotards, skirts, shorts, capris, etc purchased to wear in the show can be worn to classes after the performance! WHAT TIME WILL MY DANCER NEED TO ARRIVE ON SHOW DAY?
Dancers assigned to BOTH shows will have a call time of 12:15 PM.
Dancers assigned to a specific show will have a call time of thirty minutes before showtime.
The check-in table will be located at the side door to the little theatre. We will have signs up and teachers there to guide your way. The main doors to the little theatre will remain closed for the duration of both shows with the exception of handicap access. Once your dancer is checked-in, they will remain backstage for the duration of their show. We will have plenty of teachers, assistants, and alumni to keep dancers entertained and to assist with bathroom runs.
DO I NEED A TICKET TO ATTEND THE SHOW?
Yes. We will have tickets available for purchase starting November 15, 2019 through December 13th, 2019. Tickets to the Holiday Show are just $5 plus a small fee from the online ticketing company or $8 at the door. We’ll email out those links as soon as ticket ordering is open.
WHAT IMPORTANT DATES DO I NEED TO KNOW?
November 1 – Holiday Show information sent out and Holiday Show page listed online! (find everything you need here: www.thepointeschool.com/holiday19)
November 4 – we start learning and practicing choreography in classes
November 15 – last day to register to perform
November 15 – ticket sales open online
December 1 – costume payments processed with December’s auto-pay
December 13 – online ticket sales end (any remaining tickets will be available at the door)
Registration and orders for costumes are due no later than November 15, 2019. Your studio account will be charged the price of your costume plus sales tax with December’s auto-pay on 12/1.
