November 2020 Newsletter

Message from Miss Vanessa:

November is a month filled with reminders to be thankful.  Our dancers and dance families always make the top of my “things we’re thankful for” lists – and this year, that is truer than ever.  We are so thankful to be in-studio, to still be connected to our at-home students through technology, and that our studio is surviving through this crazy year.  I recently heard a scary statistic – 1 in 6 small businesses have closed permanently due to losses from the pandemic.  This startling number made me even more thankful for the support we have from our community – and proud of the way our team has been resilient through all of the changes and challenges this year has brought.  While we are certainly feeling the impact as a small business, we are surviving – and that is an accomplishment.  At the beginning of 2020, I had a long list of ambitious goals.  Partway through this year, the goals changed drastically – to focus on keeping our students engaged, active, and encouraged; and to keep our staff employed.  In this season of Thanksgiving, I’m so thankful for our supportive community who has allowed us to do just that.

I hope your family has an opportunity to pause and find the things you’re thankful for, too.  When things get hard, cultivating an “attitude of gratitude” is even more important.  We’re working on bringing an appreciation to everything we do and hope to encourage our dancers to do the same.

New Style November

It’s “New Style November” here at The Pointe and we are so excited to share MORE opportunities to dance with YOU and your dancer!

Here’s how it works:

Your dancer can try out a new style of dance November 2 – 14 for FREE!  In addition to a free month of tuition for your new class, you’ll also receive a 40% discount on the costume for that class if you decide to enroll for the rest of the year!  The deadline to enroll and secure this offer is Monday, November 16.

Spaces in each class are limited.  To reserve your space, please email our front desk ([email protected]) with your dancer’s name and class(es) that they’d like to try 🙂
Spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

View our schedule here: https://thepointeschool.com/live-schedule/ You can search for classes by class name, day, or age group.

We will email you back to confirm your dancer’s trial or let you know if the spaces were filled and offer alternative options.  Of course, if you have questions about the best classes for your dancer, we’re happy to help!

We have updates about Holiday plans at The Pointe.

First, we are sad that we are not able to produce a traditional Holiday Showcase onstage.  We simply are not able to reserve a theatre that will allow this type of event on the dates that we need.
We have been working behind the scenes to start to plan a super fun holiday video showcase to capture as much of the progress our families traditionally see at the Holiday Showcase in a safe way.
Introducing… 2020’s Holiday Video Showcase!

  • No additional costs or time commitments for families – just keep coming to class!  There are no costumes or tickets to purchase. (Teachers may suggest things to wear for the recording, but no additional purchases will be required for families).
  • We will learn a fun and festive holiday routine in class, record it during the last week before our Holiday break and then create and send you videos for your families to enjoy and share.
  • The last class before our Holiday break will be a fun celebration of progress and growth for our students, including the recordings of their showcase routines.

Parents, thank you for your partnership as we work to do everything we CAN to make special memories for our kids.  While there are some disappointments in what we can’t do, focusing on the positive and making the best out of what we CAN do is an important life skill that our students of every age will take with them far past 2020, and this pandemic.  Thank you for your continued support of our team, and for understanding that we are doing everything we can.

Makeup Classes: How to Make up an Absence

We know that sometimes, things come up and a dancer may need to miss their class.  No biggie!  Our technology makes it possible for you to easily communicate an absence in advance so our teachers know, and get makeup classes scheduled to take online at home at your convenience.

1 – Know you’ll be gone?  Log an absence through your parent portal.  Log in here: www.dancestudio-pro.com/online/thepointe with the same email and password used to register.  It’s quick and easy! (in fact, here’s a 40-second video that shows the process step by step! https://youtu.be/nstwEOf7e58)

2 – Email the front desk to get options for makeup classes.  We’ll reply with Zoom links to access your classes from home on a day and time that is convenient for you!

Of course, making up classes is not required – but many of our families really appreciate the opportunity to get absences made up.
