Message from Miss Vanessa:
Our second season begins in JUST FOUR DAYS! I can’t wait to start a new year of great dance classes and see everyone back in the studio! Find everything you need to know before classes begin in our welcome letter (if you don’t have it in your email, here’s a copy online). Our teachers have been getting new music and class material ready – and we can’t wait to welcome you to class!
Our first day of class is Tuesday, September 5! Our office and shop will be open for regular hours (4-7 PM) Tuesday through Thursday, and 9 AM – noon on Saturday mornings. We should be well stocked in everything your dancer will need for class – we have the brands and styles of dance shoes that our teachers prefer.
If you have questions about your dancer’s class or anything before we start classes on Tuesday, don’t hesitate to reach out via email! We’re here to help!

Families from The Pointe raised OVER $1,000 for Hurricane Victims – in ONE DAY!
If you participated in our fundraiser – thank you! We are amazed at the generosity of our dance family. Right now, we’ve raisedjust over $1,000 and More Than Just Great Dancing studios have raised over $16,000! These funds will go towards gift certificate donations for families affected by the hurricane in southeast Texas.
Online Apparel Store – Exclusive The Pointe Merchandise!
Visit our online apparel store with special The Pointe apparel and accessories! The store closes September 17 at 5 PM – and all orders will be delivered directly to The Pointe (estimated arrival date: first week of October) and will be available for you to pick up in the dance shop.

National Honors Society for Dance Arts Chapter Opening at The Pointe!
We are thrilled to be opening Iowa’s first (and only) chapter of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA).
Membership in NHSDA is available for all students at The Pointe in grades 9-12. Learn more about requirements for induction here.
A few notes about 2017-2018 classes:
NEW! Ballet 5+ Technique: Our Jazz and Tap Technique classes this year were such a success, we have added a ballet technique class with a similar format. This class will not be in the recital, and will be 75 minutes of pure ballet technique instruction. For the best success in dance and ballet, multiple ballet classes per week at an advanced level are highly recommended. Any dancer in Level 5, 6, or Advanced can add this technique class to really hone in on ballet technique and get more time in exclusive technique training. If a dancer has a schedule conflict with their Graded Technique ballet class, this class could serve as a substitute.NEW! Mini Movers Class for Independent 2+ year olds: This 30 minute class for independent 2-year-olds is a great bridge in between our Dance With Me class and our more formally structured Dance & Discover Program. Mini Movers is a ballet-based creative movement class for 2+ year olds who can take the class on their own. Classes will begin for the 2017-2018 school year.

Mini Movers is a ballet-based creative movement class for 2+ year olds who can take the class on their own. Classes will begin for the 2017-2018 school year.
NEW! Acro classes: Miss Josie is now Acrobatic Arts Certified – following one of the best curriculums for Acrobatic Dance in the industry! We’re thrilled to offer this Acro class on Thursdays after school from 4:15 – 5:00.
NEW! Adult Jazz Technique: Our adult program is growing! This 30-minute jazz technique class is great as an add-on to Adult Ballet, or is a great way to start (or restart) dance as an adult – no routines, no recital performance, just a great workout in an upbeat 30 minute class.
NEW! Our Ballet 1 on Tuesdays filled up fast – we’ve opened up a third Ballet 1 option on Thursdays at 5:00 – 5:45.
Looking back – our very first monthly newsletter came out last September. It was fun to look back and see how far we’ve come as a studio in just one year!
