Recital Ticket Sales Began MONDAY, MAY 9 (for PSD families only)
Every PSD family recieved an email last weekend with a unique coupon code that can be used once for your 4 complimentary tickets included with your membership at The Pointe. Every family (regardless of the number of dancers or shows) gets 4 complimentary tickets (a small, less-than-$2-fee per ticket from the ticketing company does apply to reserve seats). We are SO excited to be back to a more “normal” recital season (last year, arranging tickets with social distancing was like the hardest game of tetris – EVER) and do not have a restriction on quantity of tickets purchased when sales open for our families.
We do give our families a week of priority ticket sales to help make sure every PSD family has the opportunity to get seats they prefer before we open ticket sales up to the public. Tickets are all reserved seats, and you can place your order for your entire party right away at once (for example, if you’re purchasing 10 tickets, you can use your coupon code for your 4 complimentary tickets and then pay for the additional 6 tickets). Sales opened for PSD families at 9 AM on Monday, May 9!
We are fortunate to have our recitals at the beautiful Paramount Theatre with over 1,600 seats! Order your tickets early to get your preference of seating. Sales open to the public on Monday, May 16. The link to order tickets is open on the recital page: www.thepointeschool.com/recital-2022

We are THRILLED to announce that 2022 Recital Pictures are ready for you to order!  Digital and print images are available, as well as some great package options.   Here’s a video walking through how to purchase photos: https://www.loom.com/share/ef33d075dc1a41ceb2523a370826e430
And here is the gallery!  https://onpointephotography.pixieset.com/recital2022photosallclassescompany/
All photos are in this gallery – use the navigation bar at the top of the gallery to select the class you’d like to view.  You can mix and match images from different classes to fill your packages.  We have all classes together so families can order from multiple classes and only need to pay for shipping once :). Images will print as they are displayed (minus the watermark) – if you see a photo you love, but need something adjusted (if it’s horizontal layout and you’d prefer vertical, for example) – please send us an email and we’ll see what we can do πŸ™‚

That’s not all… we are SO excited to have these ready before recital, we’re offering a discount for families who place their photo orders right away!Save 10% off your total order with code psd2022 through May 27.  We LOVE these images and are so happy to offer this discount for you when you place your order quickly!

Dancers who LOVE to perform THRIVE in performing groups at The Pointe! We had a great informational meeting this week – here is the replay if you missed it!

Dancers may audition for Community Team (non-competitive community outreach performance team) starting at age 5, Mini Company (introduction to competition team) at ages 6-8, and Company (competitive program) at age 9.
Learn more about our performing groups and sign up for auditions (online now!):

We had a great, informal meeting about recital week – dress rehearsals and recitals – on Zoom this week. If you weren’t able to tune in live, the recording is available now! The meeting was about 30 minutes and we walked through what to expect at dress rehearsal and the day of recital. We recommend that all families read through the recital handbook (on the recital page, here: www.thepointeschool.com/recital-2022) before recital week to be prepared!

Our summer camp AND CLASS schedules are online now (here) and registration is open NOW (here)!
Summer dance at The Pointe is creative & active fun! Don’t miss out – and keep your dance skills fresh – with summer camps and classes.
NEW this summer – get the most out of your time at the studio by enrolling in Class Packages (available for ages 3+!) We have some helpful videos walking through the registration process with all of the summer options: classes, class packages, and camps.

Dancers who take classes over the summer benefit from keeping their technique strong, and can really focus in on specific skills to reach their goals. Summer dance is the best way for students to keep their skills, strength, and flexibility strong!
Summer details are online here: www.thepointeschool.com/summerdance (see our camp schedule there now, and stay tuned – class schedules coming soon!)

** To clarify the tights and shoes needed for each class: we have had some questions, so adding this note to clarify πŸ™‚
If your class has an option for tights (usually that would be ballet – skin tone or ballet pink tights and shoes), tights and shoes need to match. Families may select tights and shoes that are a close match to the dancer’s skin tone OR ballet pink. Tights and shoes must match – not skin tone tights and pink ballet shoes (or vice versa). Here’s our Shades Guide that has ALL of the details. (this is also on the recital page).

On the recital page, find:

  • Recital Handbook (everything you need to know in one packet)
  • Grand Finale Details
  • Dancer check-in and check-out procedures
  • Show orders
  • Quick Reference Guide – all recital event dates/times in ONE line for each class!
  • Dress Rehearsal Schedule (June 6-8)
  • Hair/Makeup Tutorial video
  • Guide on shade options for shoes/tights
  • Recital practice music
  • Recital practice videos
  • Ticket orders coming soon (starting May 9 for PSD families)

We’ve added another easy method of communication to get relevant information directly to families – right on your phone!

  • Click the links on your phone to download the BAND app and join these groups πŸ™‚
  • Please join the Studio-wide BAND here: https://band.us/n/aba6607526O3B
  • If your dancer is in COMPANY, please join the Company BAND here: https://band.us/n/a4ac627b2aNdR (dancers can and should join, too!)
  • If your dancer is in COMMUNITY TEAM, please join the CT BAND here: https://band.us/n/a7a9687a26O1J (dancers can and should join, too!)
    • We’re still tweaking the settings and figuring out how to make this work for us in the best way, but I think this will be a nice way to communicate better to our families where you are πŸ™‚
  • Class-Specific Band App invitations have been emailed home to all recital classes! Check your email (or spam/junk folder if you haven’t seen it) for those links! Email us in the studio office or ask your instructor if you need the specific link for your class if you can’t find it in your inbox.

Studio Lobby & Lounge

How to get connected at The Pointe!

We ask that families limit lobby visitors to one parent per child if you’ll be waiting in the lobby during class.  We also ask that families ONLY have food in the lounge, and that families pick up after they eat. We have wipes, paper towels, and a small broom/dustpan in the lounge so the space can stay nice and neat for the next group to use the space.

We love our studio community and truly believe we work with the best families in Cedar Rapids.  We know that it takes a village to raise up awesome kids, and our studio community can be a part of your village.  We have a private Facebook group just for studio families – click here, let us know the dancer you’re connected with, and we’ll add you to the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1921735994748769 (you MUST answer the questions to be approved for the group) Please also join our studio-wide BAND app: https://band.us/n/aba6607526O3B (dancers can and should join, too!)

Absences

Attendance in class is crucial for dancers to learn and grow.  We can only teach students who are in class πŸ™‚  However, we know that things happen and kids may need to miss occasionally.  To report an absence so your instructor knows what’s going on with your dancer, follow the steps in this 40-second video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nstwEOf7e58&list=PLZkeFgMt7mR63GMRqwjdoIM8-U1mxAx-3&index=2

Boutique & Front Desk Hours

We’re happy to help ! We catch up on studio voicemails, emails, and are available at the front desk from 4:30-7:00 Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 AM – Noon on Saturday mornings.

Dress Code

Students who are dressed for dance perform and progress better in class!  Find out what your dancer needs for their classes and easily order online here: www.theturningpointeboutique.com
