The Pointe follows the More Than Just Great Dancing!® Safer Studio™ Guidelines which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures including:
• Wellness checks for staff
• Frequent hand hygiene
• Enhanced cleaning procedures
• Minimizing mixing and mingling via social distancing practices
• Curricular and facility adjustments
• Gradual re-opening and continuous parent communications.
Every member of our staff who may be primarily responsible for students earns certification in both CPR and First Aid. Above all, the safety of every dancer who comes through our doors is our top priority. We invest in training our teachers to ensure the safety and success of our students. Each studio room contains first aid supplies.
Every member of our staff earns YPAD Certification to ensure the safety and wellness of their students in class. The Pointe is the first and only dance studio in Iowa to earn this certification.
Dance is an unregulated industry. There are no legal requirements for dance teachers to be background checked, certified, or trained. We believe that our role is so important in the lives of our students, so our team adheres to a higher standard. YPAD Certification is the cutting-edge dance studio and teacher training. You can certainly trust our studio and staff to safely care for and educate your child.
Learn more about YPAD here.
All of our classes follow a written curriculum. As a result, every student works on the appropriate key skills for their age and skill level. Most importantly, our teachers are trained to present our proven curriculum in their own fun and unique style.
If your child has prior dance experience but is new to The Pointe, please call or email our front desk. We are happy to schedule a free placement session for your dancer. An instructor will work with you to find the best fit for classes. Above all, our goal is to help your dancer reach their goals.

We are so proud to offer a variety of classes to make sure there's a great class for every dancer.
Our instructors and student assistants are wonderful role models for young dancers. Kids find, and subsequently become, positive role models at The Pointe! Little dancers look up to the "big kids" during their classes. Meanwhile, the big kids know that they are role models at the studio.

In our productions, every student shines on stage. In addition to the amazing lighting, music, and production elements, our dancers are the stars!
Parents love our performance experiences because our shows and rehearsals are organized, stress-free, and on time.
All four of our dance studios are equipped with sprung dance floors. These floors are created for dance and designed to reduce the risk of injury. Dance is a physical activity, so the type of floor used during class is very important for the safety of the dancers. Our floors are not too slick, but not too sticky, and provide some cushion for jump landings.
Our 11,000+ square-foot dance studio in Cedar Rapids has a very convenient location! We have plenty of space and seating for families in our lobby and lounge. What PSD Families Say
“We have a boy and a girl that both very much look forward to going to class. The staff, instructors and assistants are very invested in them having fun, learning and feeling good about themselves. I have received quick responses and advice when needed. We are not a face in the crowd, but a part of a dance family.”
-Jana, mom of two dancers
“Since our daughter started taking dance at The Pointe School of Dance, she’s become stronger and more confident. We have seen her grow a greater willingness to try new things. She has been given numerous opportunities to perform in new settings. This has certainly taught her to be flexible and adapt to new situations. In addition, the instructors are top notch. They are all truly invested in making dance a positive experience for every student. The staff goes out of their way to help each dancer be their best. We love The Pointe!”
