The 2026-2027 School Year begins tomorrow!
The studios are set, our teachers are ready, and we can't wait to welcome our dancers back to The Pointe! Our 2026–2027 season opens on Saturday, August 15, and we're so excited for everything ahead.
Give yourself a few extra minutes before class this week! The studio, boutique, and parking lot will be busy, and happily so! A little extra time will make arrival easier while everyone settles into their new routine. This busyness settles down significantly after the first week of classes.
Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to prepare for a great year of learning, growing, friendships, and (of course!) lots of amazing dancing. Check out our blog post about what the team has been up to prepping for an amazing season!
Nutcracker 2026 - Lead Role & Class Participation Information
It’s time to start preparing for our fourth annual Nutcracker performance this winter! Please bookmark our Nutcracker webpage to access ALL important information you may need throughout the season: thepointeschool.com/nutcracker (This is also linked on our Current Families page!)
Lead Role Auditions will take place TOMORROW Saturday, August 15th from 5:30-6:30 PM in Studio A. Lead role auditions are open to students enrolled in Ballet 3, 4, 5, 6, or Advanced for the 2026–2027 school year. Please see our Nutcracker webpage to view all Lead Role Requirements and to sign up for auditions. We hope to see you there!
Class Ensemble Performance Requirements are also available to view now! Class ensembles perform large-group pieces throughout The Nutcracker, with roles assigned after registration is complete. Dancers will learn choreography during their ballet classes, wear studio-rented costumes, and participate in one dress rehearsal and two performances.
NEW this year! Dancers in Dance & Discover 3 OR ballet classes level 1 through Advanced and Adult Ballet are eligible to perform in The Nutcracker! (Ages 5 and up!) This includes Home School Ballet.
Registration for Class Ensemble Participation begins August 28th! Participation requires registration and is not automatic.
PSD Night @ Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball
Come and support our Company Dancers as they perform at the Cedar Rapids Kernels game on Saturday, August 29th! Our dancers will perform during the pre-game at approximately 5:50 PM with game time beginning at 6:35 PM. There will be fireworks following the game!
Purchase tickets through this link to be seated in our reserved PSD section at the park. This ticket link will expire on August 28th at 6:35 PM, so don’t wait to long to get your tickets!
Valery Lantratov Ballet Master Classes
We are excited to welcome back Valery Lantratov to The Pointe to teach some very special ballet master classes to our students! Valery is a former principal ballet dancer with the Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet and Kremlin Ballet and general director of the Russian National Ballet Foundation. He has had an incredible career and has lots of wisdom and experience to offer our ballet dancers at The Pointe!
Classes are scheduled for Sunday, September 13th. Each class is $39.
Ballet Levels 4-Advanced will have class from 10:45 AM-12:15 PM
Ballet Levels 1-3 will have class from 12:15 PM-1:45 PM
These classes are open to all PSD Students and community members. All PSD Students receive a $10 discount on registration by using code PSDMASTERCLASS at checkout. Register your dancer through your parent portal today!
NEW - PSD Mobile App
We’re excited to make staying connected with The Pointe even easier through our new PSD app! Families with a parent portal account will sign in using their portal login, and everyone else can register with an email address and password. Our new app will replace BAND beginning August 15, so please download it here and get connected today!
Recital 2026 DVDs & Digital Downloads
If you ordered a DVD or Digital Download from Recital 2026 - those are here available for pickup! If you ordered a DVD, please stop by the front desk any time during open front desk hours to pick yours up. If you ordered a Digital Download, those links have already been emailed home.

Storybook Steps at The Marion Public Library
Storybook Steps is a playful dance and story experience hosted in partnership with The Marion Public Library! Each session will include:
A short, engaging story and theme
Guided creative movement and beginner dance activities
Music and rhythm exploration
Storybook Steps will be offered at two times for two different age groups on the 4th Saturday of every month. This program will be at the Marion Public Library in their Youth Programming Room.
10:30-11:00 AM - Ages 1-5
11:00-11:30 AM - Ages 6-10

Trial Classes & Referral Program
Did you know that we offer free trial classes for new-to-The-Pointe families - and we have a sweet deal for you if you refer a friend to our program? Families can schedule a trial class easily - just have them send us an email and we'll take care of it!
When a family you've referred signs up, please have them list your name in the "Where did you hear about us?" form in online registration. We will send them a $20 gift card to our boutique to help them get the gear their dancer needs for class - and as a thank you, we'll send one to you, too! Trial classes are easy to schedule online, and are FREE for a limited time!
